Another option would be a wireless FM transmitter, but they don't usually sound as good as the wired version. You will also have to give it a power source as well, but that varies from one to another. gently remove the casing and you should find the tape deck a separate component within the whole unit. All you do is remove your stereo (easier than you think), remove the FM antenna, plug in the FM transmitter, and then plug the antenna back into it. A lot easier to work on / dismantle than in dash. You can get one just about anywhere I saw a Scoche one for about $20 yesterday on the internet. 1999 Ford Taurus Asked by devonjo in Natchitoches, LA on SeptemI put a tape in my tape a player and its make a sound and spits it back out. So I would take it back for a refund, and buy a wired FM transmitter. Most cassette-adaptors don't sound very good any way.I don't think your old one is necessarily bad, I think they're ALL BAD. You can (1) drill the holes out a little larger, or (2) find another way to play your mp3's. This is basically a defect of the design of your new adaptor. The player meets resistance, thinks the tape is at the end, and then switches to play the other direction, and so on and so on. Got some things that should help. What's happening is that your tape-player is encountering resistance with the new tape-adaptor (the holes are probably too small). I try again and the adapter goes in and then down. I insert the adapter, the deck at first spits it back out, I think because I didn't push the tape in hard enough. Just got a 1996 Ford Taurus and wanted to get a tape adapter for my iPod. If no way to do that, is there a way to get it to read the tape correctly? Tape Deck does not recognize tape adapter. Is there any way i can get it to just read whatever is in there, and not try to change "sides" or detect errors? More or less "breaking" it, by making it just endlessly play, not try to rewind or anything. It doesn't light up for the other tape converter thingy i have that stays in (I have one that it lets play, but it's really shitty, hence my wanting to change it). Also, below the "1" and "2" display, there is an M lit up.
1999 FOR TAURUS TAPEDECK KICKS OUT TAPE MANUAL
Eventually it displays TDE1 (Which in the manual says "There may be something wrong with your tape") and ejects it. I can push either TAPE or the switch side button to change it back. Anyhow, i put the tape in, and it plays for about five to fifteen seconds before trying to switch to side two (or whatever that switch is). So i got one of those tapes you put into the tape deck and it has a wire to connect to the head phone jack. I have an MP3 player, and that's all i listen to. The Tape deck has the ability to use the CD thing (Just so you know what style i have). First let me say i have a Ford Taurus '97.
